About Us

Your innkeepers are Charles and Gloria Hailey, native Tennesseans who have been married for over 40 years. We have two children, Heather who has a son, Scott Anthony, (they lives about a mile from here), and Jonathan, who is married and has a step-daughter, Mayce, also lives here in Tunica. Charles worked for FedEx for almost 20 years, retired a few years ago and now works full time for the town of Tunica as Deputy Town Clerk. Gloria, a former kindergarten teacher, was a stay-at-home mom who homeschooled Heather and Jonathan for 12 years. Gloria works part time at the local newspaper, The Tunica Times. She has taught private piano lessons for several years (if you hear the sounds of students on Monday or Tuesday afternoons in the parlor, you will know she is teaching—please don't hesitate to interrupt if you need something.)

We stayed in our first bed and breakfast in Vermont while traveling for our 25th anniversary and have stayed in many more since then. We had talked for many years about restoring an old home and making it into a bed and breakfast. Heather found this house right after she married and moved to Tunica. About a year and a half was spent in renovation and restoration. Our living quarters are on the first floor—feel free to knock any time you have a need. We hope to make your visit to The Columns a lasting memory for you and that you will come back to visit many more times in the future.

We often hear “I've always wanted to have a bed and breakfast.” If you are interested in what it takes to be an innkeeper, our suggestion is this: take a few days off work and offer to assist an innkeeper at no charge. You will learn the ins and outs for free just to see how you like being an innkeeper (maybe there’s more work to running a bed and breakfast than you realize!). Win/win for everyone!
